Services

Narcolepsy Awareness

Narcolepsy is a chronic, lifelong neurological disorder characterized by the brain’s inability to regulate sleep-wake cycles properly, resulting in severe, excessive daytime sleepiness and sudden “sleep attacks”. It often involves symptoms like cataplexy (sudden muscle weakness), sleep paralysis, and vivid hallucinations. There is no cure, but it is managed with medication and lifestyle adjustments.

Providing Support

SOUND is a support group for those diagnosed with Pandemrix related narcolepsy. The group consistently lobbies the Irish Government and HSE to support the affected children and young adults. The support group also tries to raise awareness on the condition and reach any other individuals affected.

Life Long Learning

Our aim is to help members as they navigate life with narcolepsy. Our experience is from assisting other members and also committee members who have narcolepsy. Common concerns from our members relate to university life and the workplace.
